A. Want to become a social media manager yourself

Or

B. You are interested in seeing what a social media manager does all day and if there is more than just posting to instagram all day.

The job of a social media manager is constantly changing and each day is a new adventure. Not only are you a business owner but you are also part of their marketing team, and sales team, and constantly juggling the many platforms the client you are working with chooses to be on.

What is a Social Media Manager?

According to Sprout Social a social media manager is defined as being in charge of representing a company across social channels as the sole voice of the brand.

The role of a social media manager is to help embrace a company's goals. Whether that goal is growth, brand image, customer service, or another goal a social media manager is here to help ensure they meet them.

What does a social media manager do daily?

While social media managers tasks can change on a day to day basis, there are certain tasks that stay consistent.

Here is a look into a work week in our life:

We separate our work week into different main tasks for the days. While each day does have a group of regular day-to-day tasks, these topics help keep projects organized and help ensure that burnout is slim to none.

Monday - Client work

Tuesday - Client work

Wednesday - CEO work day

Thursday - Education day

We do not work on Fridays at Keils Media Management unless there is a prearranged event or working on another project. As business owners and moms, we also take time to run our house and spend time with our kids on their day off of school.

What does a day in our work life look like?

Our day-to-day may vary, but these tasks tend to stay the same. (Keep in mind that other social media managers who offer different services will have different day-to-day tasks)

  1. Emails/DMs
  2. Clients manual posts published
  3. Check-in on each platform even if there are no posts to be published
  4. Scan news
  5. Analyze campaigns
  6. Strategize/Planning
  7. Partake in needed meetings
  8. Content Creation/Curation
  9. Content Calendars
  10. Social Engagement
  11. Researching
  12. Hashtag Monitoring

The last thing I do before finishing my day is checking over my calendar to make sure I did not miss anything. I make sure to make a to-do list for the next day as well. Social Media Management takes a lot of time and precision to ensure a client's brand is communicated through their profiles.

As social media managers, we take on multiple tasks and fit them within a single day. Because of this, it is important to prioritize our tasks and ensure that we have strategized our days to get the most out of them.
